Breakup or Make Up? Where is Your Relationship Heading? Do you think your relationship has gone bad enough that it needs a breakup? It's time to think again. Many people who break up with their lover or spouse regret their decision not too long after the bad scenes. Ever wondered why so many people want to go back to their ex? This is simply because they still love each other. Breakups need not necessarily mean that you cut off all ties with your beloved. In fact, breaking up for a brief period of time can give your relationship a breather and help you both get back together in a bond that is stronger than ever before. Breakups don't always mean it's the end of the road for the two of you. It can be a new beginning and a positive bend in a relationship that has run into some roadblocks. At times, when the relationship is undergoing a crisis, taking a break from each other may solve the problems. I know you may think that staying together and trying to find a solution is better. However, if things become too stressful between the two of you, it is better to separate for a while and wait for the things to cool down so that you both can work on the relationship without the feelings of hurt, resentment, bitterness, or betrayal.

If you are not sure which way your relationship is heading, or if either of you feels suffocated in the relationship, staying apart for a short while may help. At times, the partners become so possessive about each other, or so involved with each other that they give up their individual lives. This may be all right for some, but for most it can seem almost stifling and suffocating. This leaves frustration with your partner and your relationship, and you may just throw your hands up in the air and decide to give up and get out…for good! This is another good reason why you may need to part ways for a while. Take some time off from each other and introspect as to what you want from the relationship, and where you would like the relationship to go. This periodic separation may remind you of why you fell in love and make you look at your partner's positives all over again. It can infuse a new lease of life in your love life. Yes, your precious relationship might just take on a happier and more fulfilled course after separation and reunion. Also, there really are cases where the partners are not good as a 'couple' but yet compatible enough to stay great friends. So, a breakup may just mean a new 'phase' in their relationship. They may part ways as friends and still be together - just not as life partners. Things needn't always be ugly when dealing with a breakup. You can decide to separate in a dignified way and be friends forever. Not all relationships result in "happily ever after". Similarly, not all breakups turn into "unhappily ever after" either. Your breakup may take you to make up, but it may not - you just may need to take a 'time-out' to decide exactly what you want to do with the rest of your life.
