"Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty" (A Review of the new show on
Oxygen)
There is a new show in town called "Breaking
up with Shannon Doherty." It allows people to break up with their partners
without having the courage to face them. Shannon Doherty does it for you.
In essence she does what you do not want to do meet your partner and hand
him the bad news. You are breaking up and its "Good Bye and get lost."
Now let's just take a look at this concept.
It is all right for Shannon, she does not know the person and frankly does
not care. She makes the money with her show and spreads a little more controversy
about herself, which is something she always likes to do. She comes out on
top and loves it. Besides she openly praises her "clients" for breaking up
with their partners.
However just think about your soon to be ex
partner. Being given the news of your breaking up with them is bad enough
but added to this it is on public TV and by a person like Shannon Doherty,
who is not a very sympathetic person to begin with. This is really putting
someone through too much humiliation and pain and all because you do not
have the guts to face them and tell them you are breaking up to their face.

| Put yourself in your partner's
shoes would you really like Shannon to suddenly come into your life and do
this to you? Wouldn't you feel totally embarrassed to have this news given
to you on public TV? Just think about it for a minute. If you answered yes
to any of these questions perhaps you should think twice before doing this
to your partner unless you really don't like them and want to make them
suffer.
The moral of this is do not start a relationship
that you cannot end. If you do not have the courage to face your partner
and tell them that you want to end it then there are better ways to do this
than on a show like this. Besides what will your new partner think" Wow I
hope they won't hire Shannon to do that to me?" Maybe they will think twice
before forming a relationship with you and it might sour some other future
romances as well. |

| So look at this in a different
light. How will this reflect on you? Will your future partners really trust
you and respect you for not even having the courage to tell someone that
you need to break up and move on. What will they really think about you for
doing this to someone who was once your partner and cared about you? It might
be good to take these thoughts into consideration before taking this radical
step.
Of course you should watch the show and make
your own decisions but it does come over as a somewhat harsh way to end a
relationship. If you do not have the courage to break up should you really
go to these extremes and make a public spectacle of your relationship and
your partner? Is your partner really that bad that you need to treat them
like this? Maybe these are a few things to think about before you contact
Shannon Doherty to make the break for you. |
